Time & Location:

Aims:

We believe in The Health and Social Care Standard that states; “As a child, I play outdoors every day and regularly explore a natural environment”. (HSCS 1.32)

Our Forest Kindergarten sessions are based on the Forest School principles where the holistic development of the child is nurtured. The sessions will be child-centred following their interests, curiosities offered and season. These activities will include wildlife exploration, natural art and craft, tree and log climbing, campfires and cooking, foraging, river play, exploration and wandering, storytelling and games and most importantly for the younger years free play.

Parent Quotes:

"He has learned new things and done activities that he would not have had the opportunity to do otherwise."

"I could not ask for more. She loves forest foxes and both Susan and Becky and looks forward to it every week. It is so important to her we have decided to keep her there another year rather than increasing nursery days. I cannot thank you both enough for the outstanding care."

Forest Kindergarten Sessions Description:

We will meet at the entrance to our site and walk the short distance to where we will make our base. We will chat about our ideas and aims for the session.  We usually start with a game and then the children usually busy themselves helping set up our base (a toilet and hand washing area, hammock area, snack and craft area, portable mud kitchen area) or start playing or investigating. We will come together for snack and chat before an activity or provocation will be offered or we will follow the lead of what has taken the interest of the children that day. On colder days we often stop again for some hot chocolate, milk or juice and end with a reflection of our activities and a song or game. We will then pack up and head back to the meeting point.
